The day is finally upon us. The Seamedu Short Film Festival is tomorrow and we rather excited. We are simply overwhelmed by the response that we have received. It was a tough choice to make but we have the list of short films to be screened tomorrow at NFAI ready! Below is the list of the movies to be screened. But today, we talk about whom we have brought on board as the jury to our event.
So who have we tasked with the great responsibility of picking the best from the best? Come, let’s meet the jury!
Maya Rao is a post graduate with a diploma in film direction from the film and television institute of India, the 1987 batch. With 27 years of work experience with the media industry in different streams of advertising, films, documentaries and television doing shows for various mainstream channels like Zee, Sony, Star plus, National geographic, Discovery, Doordarshan etc., she has produced, written and directed several shows like Hospital, Baap re Baap, Kashmakash, Suraag, Star Best Sellers among others. She has a special interest in kids programming with preschool and kids shows like Play house Disney & Maan na maan for Disney , Galli galli sim sim, Hole in the wall, Pogo all-stars, Sunaina, CIA, PAKA, FAQ and MAD for pogo channel. She was Creative Director, India for POGO channel and is currently working on projects for production houses like Fremantle, Optimystix, and Rowdy Rascals.
She was selected by the Film and Television Institute to represent it at the Karlovy Vary student festival – 1987. And has many successful shows under her belt like MAD – a music art and dance show has run successfully on POGO for several seasons and won over a dozen awards. The Nat geo documentary, Mumbai Mega Floods was nominated in the Vatavaran festival, Kashmakash a show for star plus was nominated for the ITA awards, 6 stories, and a documentary on health of women was nominated in the Nasik film festival.
Umesh kulkarni is Marathi cinema’s finest contemporary director and producer. He has directed Valu, Vihir, Deool and Pune 52. Deool has won the national award and Girni won the National Film Award for the Best Non Feature Film while Valu was featured in Berli film festival, and Rotterdam film festival. Umesh has also directed short films Girni, Three Of Us, Vilay, and Garud. He is an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. He also conducts various workshop on the art and science of short filmmaking.
