1. 2D/ 3D Game Developer – As a game developer, you are required to have skills in programming, analytical thinking, and problem-solving.

a. You may design and deliver high-quality code in C++, C#, Python, Swift or JavaScript

b. Review and refactor existing code to improve its quality.

c. You may also be working with game designers to conceptualize, storyboard, and design the game at the concept stage.

d. In a senior role, you may also plan resources and manage your own team.

Additionally, a game developer would need to have proficiency in software and gears such as Xcode, Code Blocks, yED – Graph Editor, NetBeans/ Eclipse, Cocos2D, Unreal, Unity 3D, Construct 2, Wacom tablet, HTC Vive, PS4 Console and Nintendo Switch.

2. Game Tester – Video game testers are experts who test video games to detect bugs and errors. They work alongside game designers and programmers. As a game tester, you need to have an eye for detail and patience because your work can be repetitive. Yet you are one of the most crucial and well-paid links in the chain of game development. As a game tester, your activities could involve –

a. Playing and testing the game in different ways and scenarios repetitively.

b. Testing the game on different devices such as a PC, mobile, or a gaming console.

c. Comparing the new version with older versions to check if the bugs have been fixed.

d. Checking for typos, spelling mistakes, and grammar.

e. Reporting error codes via the bug tracking software.

As an Android or iOS developer, you would need proficiency in Android Studio or Xcode. Android Studio is the official integrated development environment (IDE) for Android application development built on the IntelliJ IDEA environment. Xcode, on the other hand, is an IDE for applications in iOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS. It is used for creating and pushing apps on Apple’s app store.


5. Augmented Reality (AR)/ Virtual Reality (VR) Developer – While VR is used in many industries such as education and healthcare, its biggest boom is in the gaming industry. As a VR developer, you would be working on either Unreal or Unity 3D engines using C# and C++ languages.
