Seamedu & MESC – Forging a Partnership for Better Education

The Media & Entertainment (M&E) industry is thriving right now and the growth rates are jaw-dropping, but at the same time, there are several plaguing issues therein – the most important one being that of a massive demand:supply gap.

What is more worrying is that this gap concerns not only the number of people required but also the workforce quality. To address this, institutions like Seamedu MESC registration help bridge the skill gap by aligning with the Media and Entertainment Skill Council. This initiative ensures industry-relevant training, meeting the standards set by the Media and Entertainment Sector Skill Council to enhance workforce competency.

Seamedu School of Pro-Expressionism has been trying its best to help plug this gap and overcome the ‘skills’ challenge by training young media aspirants through a variety of specialized degree, diploma and certificate courses in areas like film making, game development, sound engineering, music production, photography, journalism and VFX and animation.

To some extent, Media education schools like Seamedu have been successful in addressing the skills gap. However, since an issue like this needs a more significant push, we understand the need to join hands with a larger, government-recognized, and funded organisation. This is why Seamedu MESC registration allows us to collaborate with the Media and Entertainment Skill Council, an entity dedicated to strengthening industry-focused education in the media and entertainment sector skill council. Partnering with such organisations helps us achieve this vision more efficiently and professionally.

Enter the Media & Entertainment Skills Council (MESC), a non-profit organization set up under the Societies Registration Act (1860).

Founded in 2012, MESC has a mandate of creating 11.74 lakhs ‘skilled’ workforce in the next four years (i.e., by 2022) and contribute to the National Skill Mission of creating 500 million skilled workforce by 2022. Promoted by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), the council gets financial aids from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

Seamedu has recently partnered with the MESC to elevate the level of education that we offer to media students. With a common objective and approach, Seamedu and MESC strive to not only make the training process better, but also contribute to the M&E industry by developing well-rounded professionals who are job-ready.

What this collaboration means for Seamedu students and trainers

Seamedu is now an authorised training partner and recognised training provider for the Media and Entertainment Skill Council (MESC). In short, we are now MESC-certified. All our degree and diploma programs have been mapped to this skill development initiative. This means that our students will now take a separate, fully-sponsored online exam (conducted by the Media and Entertainment Sector Skill Council) at the end of their course.

Simultaneously, the ‘Training of Trainers’ (ToT) programme will ensure that our experienced faculties will also get certified by MESC.

It is a big step towards standardising the training process, certifying students and trainers, and supplying the industry with young professionals trained by the domain's needs. With Seamedu MESC Registration, students gain access to industry-recognized certifications, enhancing their professional journey.

We are delighted about this partnership and look forward to a long-term association with the Media and Entertainment Skill Council, creating talent, training aspirants, and nurturing them.
