Studio Production A Journey of Learning and Collaboration

The batch of 2020 was given the opportunity to work on studio production as part of the curriculum, which served to be an exciting experience fit for all the students. The work experiences from studio production came with excitement and also responsibilities that introduced a whole new eye to the processes that takes place in professional settings. From day 1 towards the end, it was packed with brainstorming as a team to minute planning of what was to be achieved. The collaboration among all departments introduced each and every one of us with a glimpse towards all the work that is required in producing creative projects.

Every student knew their strengths and took their role with respect towards the art. Ours being, to plan, process and create a studio production from scratch. Although any piece of work would be inadequate without the input of the perceptions of those that worked together as a whole, some of the views of the students on the project based from pre- production and post-production were of the stance that, the majority started off with a grateful attitude towards the responsibility given from the college.

Initially, from shaky communication during brainstorming to eventually learning to adapt with all quirks ultimately bred synergy in the planning process up towards post-production. It proved to be a test of converting potential ideas to a concrete product as the process of set designing, song selection from the band, placements, final editing towards refreshment planning, the well-known Vada pav proved it’s commitment, it was an appetiser to most and a saviour to some, still it made its presence known at the scenes behind the production. It would be a façade to say that there were no hindrances, a well-known fact that stands still is that nothing ever comes to play perfectly and as challenging as it was still it is safe to say that even such unfortunate events turned out to be an eye-opener, all in all, such drawbacks makes it worth to look at it in retrospect. Such experiences as a whole, as students, did not fail to provide if not the whole of it, a precious glimpse of what’s ahead in the industry. The space that was so generously provided to the students marked everyone with a sense of being a part of an incredible journey. A fact that can be drawn out from the production is that without the guidance of our respected faculties, such an opportunity would not have taken place the way it played off in the end. Through all the hustle and bustle, the guidance from faculty member made it possible to create with ease because of the safe space that was provided to make mistakes but still learn from it without shame but only healthy encouragement. All of the learning experiences were incredibly creative and humbling. Inevitably, it’s an honour to say that each minute and hours spent on planning and working was worth every second. Although, the work required a professional attitude, it also obliquely increased the quality of union in classmates and friendships. With that being said, it was an honour to be trusted with such a responsibility and ultimately shed new light on many areas that will continue to have a creative and favourable impact to each and every student.
